
Lucy Mauro’s recent performances include those for the Colorado Music
Festival Chamber Music Series, Coolidge Auditorium at the Library of
Congress, Music at Ogontz in New Hampshire, Washington and Lee
University, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Washington
County Fine Arts Museum in Maryland, the Contemporary American
Theater Festival, the reunion of the French Piano Institute, and the Embassy
of Poland in Washington, D.C. She has recorded for Capstone Records
and is also the co-editor of Essential Two-Piano Repertoire, Essential Keyboard
Trios, and Essential Keyboard Duets, vols. 4 and 5, Duet Transcriptions from
Alfred Publishing.
Ms. Mauro is a frequent adjudicator for competitions and festivals and has
presented master classes and workshops for regional, national and
international music organizations, including a two-week residency at
Shenyang Conservatory in China in 2010. Her new summer program in
Germany, with Donald George, the WVU Bavarian Summer Voice and
Piano Collaborative Workshop, began in 2011 to assist young artists ready
to embark on careers in opera and accompanying. She is the recipient of
several grants, most recently the WVU Senate Research Grant in 2009 and
2011.
She is also the co-author of several articles with Donald George, including
those for American Music Teacher, Classical Singer, the Society of American
Music Bulletin, Die Tonkunst, and the Opera Journal.
Ms. Mauro is a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of the Johns Hopkins
University from which she received Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate
degrees and where she studied with Ann Schein and Julio Esteban.
She is an Assistant Professor of Music at West Virginia University.
Donald George, tenor has performed at La Scala, at the Paris Opera Bastille
and Théâtre du Châtelet, Royal Opera of Brussels, Kennedy Center, the State
Operas of Berlin, Hamburg and Vienna, the Festivals of Salzburg, Buenos
Aires, Jerusalem, Istanbul, Perth(Australia) and Blossom USA. He has sung
with Leonard Bernstein, Kurt Masur,Yehudi Menuhin, Jeffry Tate, Vladimir
Jurowski, Simone Young and recorded Elijah, Verdi Requiem, Rossini’s
Aurelieano in Palmira and Le Nozzedi Teti e Peleo (the world premiere
recording), Die Schöne Müllerin among others. He has recorded for Sony,
Naxos, Phillips Classic, Teldec, and Bavarian Radio, among others. He has
worked with prominent stage directors such as John Dew, Harry Kupfer,
Mario Martone, Yannis Kokkos, William Kenntridge and others.

Symphony Heilbrunn and Liederabend in the US and Germany.
Donald George is Opera Director of the International Performing Arts
Institute in Germany, a summer program for opera and musical singers.
He is also a guest of the Schloß Laubach Opera Summer Festival in
Germany, for young professional singers wishing to start a career in
Germany. He is an Associate Professor of Vocal Music at the Crane School of
Music- State University of New York, Potsdam and an Honored Professor at
Shenyang Conservatory in China and Guest Artist in Residence at West
Virginia University. Mr. George has also taught at the Bavarian Theater
Academy Hochschule für Theater und Musik in Munich.
Donald George studied at Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond,
LA where he received his Bachelor of Music degree studying with Ralph
Roberts and then attended Louisiana State University for his Master's degree.
He is a member of the Hall of Fame of Southeastern Louisiana University and
was named their 2010 Alumnus of the Year.
